Mission Statement

The board of directors of the Day County Community Foundation has adopted the following mission statement:

Through an established Advised Fund, the foundation will have the authority to accept contributions and through provisions of these funds will enhance programs that address community needs for perpetuity.

County-Wide Challenge

The Day County Community Foundation has launched a county-wide challenge grant fund with a goal of $150,000. The foundation received an anonymous challenge pledge of $50,000 plus another challenge grant of $25,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation as an added incentive.

Day County Foundation Chairman Tom Sannes said one of the keys to the new initiative was the anonymous donor who loves Day County and wants to see it grow and prosper. If the drive is successful, Sannes said the foundation’s endowment would more than double.

Sannes says the board of directors has received individual and corporate pledges ranging from $125 to $12,500 and is gearing up for a major campaign.

All contributions to the foundation are tax deductible and are set up in perpetuity, Sannes noted. The money given to the foundation stays in Day County to make Day County a better place, he said.
